How to Replicate an Entire Table from Google Sheets in Databox

In Databox, you can recreate a complete table from Google Sheets in Databox by first formatting the spreadsheet correctly and then creating custom metrics in Databox.

First, structure your table in Google Sheets

  1. Ensure that your spreadsheet includes:

    • A dimension column (e.g., Project Names, Pipeline Names, etc.).

    • A date column (this step is optional but we always recommend having dates associated to your data so you can report on it month-over-month).

    • Additional columns where each column represents a metric (e.g., Revenue, Cost, Conversion, etc.).

Create separate custom metrics in Databox for each column

  1. Go to the Metric Builder page and select Google Sheets as the Data Source.

  2. Set the Value to the column you want to pul data from (e.g., “Revenue”)

  3. Set the Dimension to the shared identifier column (e.g., Project, Pipeline name, etc.)

  4. Set the Date to the date column.

  5. Repeat this step for each metric/column you want to include in your table. Each time, select a new column as the Value and keep the rest of the setup the same.

Build your table in a Databoard

  1. Navigate to Databoards and create a new Databoard or edit an existing one - depending on where you want to create the table.

  2. Hover over the Databoard and click on "+" to add your first Custom Metric you created from your spreadsheet.

  3. Open the Datablock editor on the right side and set the Visualization Type to Table.

  4. Still in the Datablock editor, scroll down to add the rest of the Custom Metrics.

This setup allows you to recreate complex reports from Google Sheets directly in Databox, making it easier to present data visually without manual updates.
