If you're building reports from QuickBooks and want to analyze data by category or subcategory (like breaking down expenses or income into more granular segments), you can do this in Databox.
Databox offers pre-built metrics that support category- and subcategory-level insights:
Check out all available QuickBooks metrics here: QuickBooks Metric Library.
If you need something more specific, you can also build your own Custom Metrics using the Metric Builder.
How to create a custom metric for categories and subcategories
Open the Metric Builder page and select QuickBooks as the Data Source.
Set the Report Type to Profit and Loss.
Choose the Accounting Method: either Cash or Accrual, based on how your reports are structured.
Set the Metric (e.g., "Other Income" or "Expenses") depending on what you want to track.
Set the Dimension to either Categories or Subcategories to break the data down further.
Once the custom metric is created, you can add it to your Databoard and use the dimension selector to focus on specific subcategories.
